Intro
The coastal town of Essaouira. Famous for kite and wind surfing. One of my favorite stops on the trip with rich history, stunning beaches, vivid culture and friendly camels.
I’m thankful for the experience of a new culture. For the reminder to maintain simplicity in order for life to be most fully lived.
I’m thankful for preserved lemons. Floral and tart, fragrant and salty. For a new flavor being welcomed into many of my current cooking adventures.

I’m thankful for a family that lets me go explore then welcomes me home with love and excitement.
I’m thankful to be home.
I’m thankful for color. Currently, I’m most thankful for this blue.

I’m thankful for a camera and its ability to capture a glimpse of the beauty I experienced.

I’m thankful for rest. For renewed inspiration, creativity and the hope of what’s to come.
I’m thankful for the ride from a camel and the chance to view his lashes from on top.
I’m thankful for our differences and how a better understanding of them makes us all better people.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to share with all of you. Your presence here is a joy that my meager words always fail to express. Thank you for being a part of this place.
Happy Thanksgiving.
*I was graciously sent to Morocco by the Moroccan tourism board. All photos and words are my own.

Amazing photos!! Makes me want to re-decorate my home 🙂
I am also thankful for that blue…goodness, so vibrant and lovely. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
My husband’s summer job in high school was in a thuya shop making those tables and boxes. They’re really amazing.
@Joel – How cool. I was amazed by their skills. Incredible.
Just incredible — particularly those blue photos.
Thank you for sharing all of it with us —
These photos are just incredible – even if I had such a camera, I’m not sure I would be able to capture Morocco as beautifully as you have.
Andrea x
@Andrea – Thank you. I had such an incredible time taking photos in that country.

Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photos! I too am so grateful for my family who let me wander and collect memories in my suitcase before I come home where they always welcome me with hugs and cups of tea and listen to my adventures. Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
What incredible, fabulous, utterly transporting photos! Please share more soon! And happy Thanksgiving
Oh my god, you’ve been to le Heure Bleue! We just returned from our honeymoon in morocco and the end of the trip was Essaouira. We stayed at Casa Lila down the street which was nice, but after lurking into the Palais we defitnitly want to move there:-) Your pics are incredibly cool. LOOOOVE your blog.
P.S. You are so right about that blue. I took millions of pics at the Kasbah in Rabat and in Essaouria – all those blue doors and walls. So beautiful. I spammed my blog with them:-)
@Stefanie – I LOVE the pictures on your blog. Made me want to go back to explore the areas I didn’t get a chance to visit.
I’m just loving these photos!
Your article took me away to a peacful place…being able to “unplug” and enjoy the sites, colors and almost able to taste the foods. Thank you so much for shaing.

Great pictures! You really captured the atmosphere. I’m sharing your passion for moroccan preserved lemons – a totally unique flavour you either hate or love.
Oh that blue! So gorgeous!
I’m so glad you all love that blue as much as I do. Every time I saw it in Morocco I insisted I needed more of that blue in my life.
Beautiful!
My mind is blowing with all the beautiful textures in your photos.
I’m also thirsty for Moroccan mint tea!
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful photos!
Those are all wonderful things to be thankful for, and often the very things that we overlook or take for granted. I’m thankful for this lovely post, your thoughtful insight and your willingness to share, both literally and visually, your experiences with us.
these pictures are beautiful and so inspiring 🙂
These photos and posts are *killing* me. You’ve given me serious wanderlust and bumped Morocco right to the top of my list. (Turkey was just edged out. Sorry, Turkey. Blame Ashley.)
Everyone has already said it, but–gah! Those photos. A beautiful trip! Welcome home.
A very belayed Happy Thanksgiving…what stunning photos…you make me want to head to the airport & to hop on a plane to Morocco! At the very least I may have to settle for concocting something in the kitchen with preserved lemons!
