Intro
When I first came to Morocco I expected this to be an incredible opportunity for me to be able to say that I came. I didn’t have plans to return and didn’t expect to make any. By day three I was plotting my next visit – where to take the kids and what would I show my husband first. Having just finished day five I am considering sending a plane for my family so I never would have to leave.
Over the coming weeks and months I anticipate this blog will be heavily influenced by this trip. Just the food alone is enough to leave me inspired for years. In these posts there will be more details from the trips and I will attempt to share some of the culinary magic that happens in this country.
For now I have some more photos to share from the second day of our trip.
From our time Oualidia, home to first class oyster beds. We enjoyed a paella made brilliantly yellow with Moroccan saffron and loaded with local seafood. Above there is a salad (possibly my new favorite) of tuna, tomato and avocado which is then finished with a balsamic dressing.
From the town of Safi which is home to the oldest pottery kilns in Morocco.

beautiful pictures… i visited Morocco in 1999, so long ago, but it was an amazing trip (a 2 & 1/2 week college study abroad trip that studies the Muslin influence on Spain & Morocco)

I just found your delightful blog! you know, I LOVE Essaouira. When we were there in 2009, we stayed at Villa de l’O. It was absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed our stay there tremendously! Wow, you are totally retracing my steps from my journey to Morocco! my husband is Moroccan, so it was especially wonderful seeing his country through his eyes. Ouilidia was so cool and hip, Essaouira (my hubby’s summer resort as a boy) historic, Safi was the prefect stop to stock up on some beautiful pottery. All food was amazing and hospitality abounds everywhere–enjoy the rest of your trip! Can’t wait to see where else you go.
Ashley – the colours are spectacular. I’m gobsmacked and overcome with a desire to travel to Morocco. Through your photography I can see the vibrant culture, hear the bustle in the streets, smell the spices in the air, taste the gorgeous dishes and feel that poolside sun (even though it was a bit cloudy that day!). Oh man, I would go back in a second. Love Morocco. Not exactly sure what you mean by gear – I’m assuming photography gear. I took the Canon Mark 2 and my 24-70. Heavy but versatile.
