Your words touched me, especially “Food is that constant reminder that Iā€™m loved by a Creator who desires to lavish his creation onto me, onto all of us, for our pleasure.”

I too studied abroad in Italy (Florence), and so appreciated the food culture there. Never any rush, just you and the people you loved most and some good food. I miss that.

The idea that a meal could be church – I love that! Growing up conservative Catholic, my idea of church and God were very specific. But lately I’ve realized that God can come in so many forms and I don’t have to be in a fancy building for it to be church. I resonated so much with your post.

And now I think I’m going to have to buy some truffle oil! šŸ™‚

It makes me want to go out and (sell something valuable) so I can buy a truffle!

Thank you for sharing this personal story of inspiration and a trip that started a life-long passion.

I think foodies can all relate to your experience in some way or another. That one dish or ingredient that made it all click for them. Thanks again!

I feel very similar, however, never have articulated it as well as you have here. Your post was also a good reminder to me that I must start taking a lunch break at work so I have time to actually enjoy my food and build community with my coworkers.

She is the sister that got me addicted to espresso from the nights on dish duty. I remember asking her what she put in her dishes to make them so good and she said, “A little bit of this and a little bit of that.” šŸ˜Š

Thank you for sharing this uplifting and spiritual perspective. I so appreciate your creative style, in the form of words, photographs, and food! šŸ™‚

I could never articulate it in this way, but it is exactly what I love about food, about feeding. Why I consider it the best investment of time, energy & yes, money. It is love. Thank you for sharing this.

The image of families sitting around the table digging into big bowls of pasta make my heart ache for our years spent in Europe. I do my best to cultivate the same here back in Canada but it’s a struggle – feeling rushed. Thank you for reminding me that that culture and intense passion for food and family lives inside me too, and not in another time or country. There is never a recipe too simple when the ingredients are good. Thank you for being here. x

Your words describe moments and experiences that reflect what it means to commune with humanity. I share your love of food. When meals are created with love, passion and awareness of the “present” in daily life we are nutritionally sustained and spiritually rejuvenated. Scrambled Eggs truly can open doorways to serenity.
