mmmm dream cake. A dark chocolate cake and mint?!?! Love! However, I found myself saying “yes yes yes” to everything you wrote. “made sense for the scene but not for my family” – I feel like we are in process of figuring that out as our kids have changed the game. After feeling depleted on 12/26, we retrospectively see what we need to say ‘no’ to next year. I don’t care much about decorating, and we don’t go overboard with gifts at all, but we still aren’t getting it quite right. I love that every day is new and we can try better next time. I’m curious – is the toasting of the meringue essential for the success of the cake? I’m debating whether to make this or a buche noel – but I was thinking I could make this and add some decorations to it as sort of a snowscape?
